The voice behind Jumma Chumma De De

Today the Indian Playback singer celebrates his birthday at the age of 63 years! The singer started his career as a playback singer in the film Zalzala (1988) which turned out to be his major break.

The playback singer was born in a Konkani-speaking family from Shiroda, Goa. He is married to Hema Bhosle. They have a son and a daughter together, namely Siddhant and Shruti.

He then used mimicry as the path to bring his career forward and was dubbed for various actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Anil Kapoor, and not to forget Amitabh Bachchan. He dubbed Sanjeev Kumar’s voice, for the film Professor ki Padosan (1993), the reason of which is, his demise prematurely before the completion of the film. He also sang for the animated movie Ghatothkach (2008).

Sudesh Bhosle became a household name in India because of his uncanny resemblance to Amitabh Bachchan’s voice and the songs that are posturized on him such as; “Say Shava Shava” from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001), “Ang Se Ang Lagana” from Darr (1993), “Sona Sona” from Major Saab (1998), and the most famous “Jumma Chumma De De” from Hum (1990), to name a few of precious songs sung by him.

He also mimics some eminent actors of the film fraternity such as Dadamoni ‘Ashok Kumar’, Vinod Khanna, Anil Kapoor, and Sunil Dutt, to name a few. His name is associated with some great films such as Hum (1991), Bade Miyan Chhotey Miyan (1998), Major Saab (1998), Ajooba (1990), Lal Baadshah (1999), MrityuDaata (1997), Kaatey (2002), Baghban (2003), Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001), Waqt (2005), Baabul (2006), to name a few films in which he had lend his voice to and most of them are supposedly picturized on Amitabh Bachchan.
